may i ask if you are korean? if not, what prompted you to want to learn korean? (just curious!)

anyway, for your question, there are a lot of ways you can learn korean…
i usually don’t give this suggestion, but maybe you should go to your local library and pick out some books that teach korean that come with tapes. the reason i don’t give this recommendation is because it doesn’t always sound natural.. once you really get into those books, it starts to say things that korean people wouldn’t say.. i mean it sounds like a robot. but if you are a beginner and it sounds like you know almost no korea, i think this will still help you.
secondly, are you interested in korean movies/shows/dramas? if so, this is a great way to learn korean and still enjoy those addicting korean dramas! just in case you aren’t familiar with korean shows, i will list some for you that are pretty good. but of course, you should watch with english subtitles or you’ll never learn!
usually, youtube has them…i’m not sure if some of these have subtitles or if it’s even on youtube but you can still try!!(i’m including who is starring in them just in case it doesn’t just come up with the title)
    movies:
    1. daisy (jun ji hyun/jung woo sung)
    2. strongest romance (hyun young/lee dong ook)
    3. fly high (ji hyun woo)
    4. sad movie (cha tae hyun)
    5. my sassy girl (jun ji hyun, cha tae hyun)
    6. a moment to remember(sohn ye jin, jung woo sung)
(these are all movies i’ve seen on youtube at one point or another)

    dramas:
    1. full house(bi, song hye kyo)
    2. stairway to heaven(choi ji woo, kwon sang woo)
    3. tree of heaven(lee wan)
    4. goong(yoon eun hye, joo ji hoon)
    5. my girl(lee dong ook, lee da hae)
    6. my name is kim sam soon(hyun bin)
(i’ve also seen most of these on youtube)

    shows:
    1. x-man
    2. love letter
    3. full house (with super junior..this is particularly good because it involves two girls who speak english)
    4. ya shim man man
    5. heroine 6
    6. sang sang plus
    7. super viking
thirdly, this is a site based in los angeles… they have these “learn korean” sections that might be of some use.. i’ve actually never seen it before but found it just now… here’s the link…

    hope this helped! good luck!!

    1. I vote to watch alot of Korean Dramas and Movies and listen to Korean music (current music, I find listening to old stuff not motivational unless you actually like it)
    - this works great for me, I am learning Japanese and I want to learn korean next and just from listening you can grasp common phrases, enunciation and how to project. and best of all youre really expanding your listening skills

    2. http://www.learn-korean.net/ <- best site I could find, I could probably search for a better one if you want.

    3. I suggest book on tape/cd or interactive CD-ROM (no lie kids version are best way to start). online language learning didnt really work for me, I usually use online language for maybe talking to a native speaker of the foreign language to you.

There are some great answers but I would also go to Arirang which is a TV network in Seoul. There is a “Let’s speak Korean” link you can go to on there. You can also practice what you learn in restaurants, markets or Churches if available in your area. Korean people are very friendly and are willing to help. Have fun:) I am a Korean linguist.
